Is investing in a credit union a better choice than investing where I have my 401(k) plan?

It depends on what you are saving/investing money for and the financial products that are available at the credit union(s) that you are considering. For example, if you are investing long term for retirement, you will probably want access to some growth-oriented products such as stock mutual funds. Securities of this type may not be available through a credit union.
