Have pet carriers ready in case you need to evacuate. These carriers will prevent them from escaping during evacuation by limiting the movement of the animal in the vehicle and at the evacuation destination. Make sure you have a leash if your dog is too large to fit in a pet carrier. Many shelters do not take pets, so make plans before the fire for a safe place to shelter your pets.
