What are common credit report errors than can lower a person's credit score?

Erroneous information on your credit report can lower your credit score. Errors can occur when:
* An identity thief opens new accounts in your name.
* Information about others gets included in your credit report by mistake. For example, a father and a son with the same name living at the same address could have some of their data commingled.
* Creditors don't report a credit limit for your accounts. In this situation, your highest balance is often treated as your credit limit. When this happens, your credit score will drop if it appears that you are using most of your available credit.
* There can be typographical errors when data are entered into a person's file.
