According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), pandemics historically have occurred in waves, with two to three outbreaks following the initial outbreak. These waves may be milder or of greater severity than the initial outbreak. The second wave of novel H1N1 appears to have begun with many colleges and schools reporting outbreaks, as the 2009-2010 school year has begun.

The time is now for individuals, families, businesses and communities to prepare for the second outbreak wave.
