How can you safely use pesticides?

Identify the pest and read the label before you purchase the product to make certain that it is legal for the host or site and effective against the pest.

Read all warnings and cautions on the label each time you use the product. Follow label directions, rates and cautions.

Store the product out of reach to everyone but knowledgeable users.

Keep the product in its original container and tightly closed.

Don't smoke, drink or eat while using any pesticide.

Wear protective clothing and avoid inhaling the product.

Keep a copy of the label handy, it contains instructions to use in case of a spill, accident, or contamination.

Launder clothing separate from the family laundry.

Shower or wash thoroughly after application and change to clean clothes.

Follow disposal directions on the container. Don't reuse the container.

Be familiar with poisoning symptoms, antidotes, and emergency numbers.

Keep accurate records on when, where, what, and how chemicals were used.
