How can I control weeds in my blackberry planting?

You can control weeds in bramble plantings by cultivating between rows and using an organic mulch. When cultivating, use care to just scratch the surface to prevent damage to the shallow root system of the brambles. To suppress weeds, apply a heavy layer of mulch - 6 to 8 inches of straw, compost, sawdust, or other organic matter. Mulches are very beneficial to brambles and can increase crop yields.
