Do you happen to know the approximate number of species of ants in my state? How about in the U.S. or North America as a whole?

There are approximately 700 species described in North America. The most current number for described species worldwide is around 11,000, while some estimates of total diversity (including undescribed species) reach as high as 20,000 worldwide. The number of ant species that have been described from individual fire ant infested states ranges from 88-270 species.
