If I put out more fire ant control product than I am supposed to, am I doing any harm other than spending too much money?

Related resource areas: Imported Fire Ants

Yes. Some contact insecticides are repellent to the ants when too much is used, which results in poor fire ant control. In addition, if you apply more than you are supposed to, you are in violation of the law. Excessive pesticides can run off and contaminate waterways, including drinking water. Always read the label and apply fire ant control products according to the directions.
