There are plants called Angel Trumpet in both the Brugmansia and Datura genera. Both prefer full sun and a fertile, well-drained soil, and they must be well watered. If it is a Brugmansia, a tropical tree, (with blossoms that hang down, hardiness Zones 10b, 11), it should be planted in a location sheltered from wind or the large leaves will get somewhat shredded. Brugmansia can reach a height of 8 to 10 feet. Propagation is by softwood cuttings.

Datura (genus) are a group of large, vigorous annuals and short-lived perennials. The flowers are erect or spreading (not pendulous), trumpet-shaped, 5 to 20 cm long and 4 to 12 cm broad at the mouth; color varies from white to yellow, pink, and pale purple. They will not propagate by cuttings. The fruit is a spiny capsule 4 to 10 cm long and 2 to 6 cm broad, splitting open when ripe to release the numerous seeds. Collect seeds in late summer and store in a cool, dry place until after last frost and the ground warms up. Start seeds in pots or loose soil from which they can be easily transplanted.
