Baits containing indoxacarb are the fastest acting, giving maximum control in as little as 3 to 7 days. Insect growth regulators, when applied late in the year, may take several months to provide maximum control, but will suppress ant colonies for a year or more. Baits containing hydramethylnon or spinosad should kill all individuals in the colony within 3 - 4 weeks. See also FAQ #824: "Which bait do I use?" , and Broadcast Baits for Fire Ant Control .
