TPR is the abbreviation for temperature, pulse, and respiration. Average temperature for an adult horse is 99.5 to 101.5 degrees F. The normal heart rate for an adult horse is about 32 to 36 beats per minute. The normal respiratory rate for adult horses is eight to 12 breaths per minute.
