A Nutrient as it relates to the Horse

A nutrient is defined as any feed constituent that is necessary to support life.

 

 

There are six general classes of nutrients needed in an animal’s diet:

  • Water
  • Carbohydrates
  • Fats
  • Protein
  • Minerals
  • Vitamins
