WOOSTER, Ohio--The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI) will offer two popular horticulture classes online during Winter Quarter 2008: Principles of Landscape Design and Planning, and Herbaceous Plants. The courses will be taught by Laura Deeter, assistant professor of horticulture. Both courses will be taught completely via the Internet, which means students can take them when and where they choose, just by logging in.
Principles of Landscape Design and Planning (Horticulture Technologies T231D) is a beginning course in landscape drafting, design and planning emphasizing proper planning procedures and considerations, drafting techniques and design representation.
Herbaceous Plants (Horticulture Technologies T245D) focuses on the identification, culture and indoor and outdoor use of bulbs, annuals, herbaceous perennials, garden roses and foliage plants; course includes selection, growth habits, pests and diseases, and planting techniques.
Both courses are 3 credit hours each. Tuition and fees for one course is $504; for both courses, it is $991. Enrollment can be for a grade or for audit. Tuition and fees are the same for either option. A one-time $40 application fee is required for those new to The Ohio State University.
The registration deadline is Friday, Dec. 14. Classes begin Thursday, Jan. 3. The final examination will take place the week of March 10.

Ohio State ATI (http://ati.osu.edu), located in Wooster, Ohio, is an associate degree-granting program within the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University.
