Cow-hocked describes a conformation in which the hocks are closer together than the fetlocks when viewed from behind. This conformation variation can vary from mild to extreme.
Horses that are more severely cow-hocked tend to have more difficulty with movements that require work off the hindquarters, such as stopping, turning, and sliding.
