Lateral branch typically found on lower nodes of the cotton plant, also known as a monopodial branch. A vegetative branch does not generally produce large amounts of fruit. Vegetative branches have a linear pattern of growth (as opposed to a zig-zag pattern on a fruiting or sympodial branch) similar to the mainstem in appearance. However, a fruiting branch can develop from vegetative branch.
