LAFAYETTE, La. -- Hannah Montana gave a breathtaking performance at the Regional Livestock Show in Lafayette recently (Jan. 25).
That’s Hannah Montana, the Santa Gertrudis cow owned by LSU AgCenter 4-H student Brett Broussard of Kaplan – and not the pop-star performer. Coincidentally, a Hannah Montana concert took place just a few blocks away from the livestock show the day after the calf was born.
Before she was to go to the show ring, Hannah Montana gave birth to a bull calf, which Brett appropriately named “Billy Ray” after the celebrity’s father, Billy Ray Cyrus, the country music performer.
Brett, a freshman at Kaplan High School, said he’s in the field working with cattle just about every chance he gets.
“I like just about everything about being around cattle,” he said.
He and his parents, Shawn and Shauna Broussard, work the cattle on horseback.
Brett said Hannah Montana has done well in the show ring, winning best overall in two shows.
At the regional show, though, she wasn’t able to get to the show ring. But Hannah Montana will be at the LSU AgCenter Livestock Show, which is set for Feb. 9-16 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.
In the meantime, mother and son – the cows, that is – are doing well.
