21st Century Agriculture Overview

21st Century Agriculture is about food and fiber in the present and in the future!

  • What do we need to feed the world's population? What do we need to provide clothing and other needs?
  • The world’s population increases every day? There is only so much land we can use. We're not getting any more!
  • We must find new ways of producing food and fiber! New methods, new technologies and new crop genetics are needed. Our production must become more and more efficient to sustain life here on earth.
  • Learn more about the future of agriculture! Learn more about the production of food and fiber for people around the world.


We'll begin with two main topics:

How food and fiber are produced:

  • Learn about the production of food and fiber! Here you'll learn about the basics of crop productions and what is required to grow crops for food.

Precision Agriculture:

  • Precision Agriculture is about exciting new technologies being used to efficiently produce food and fiber.
  • See how geospatial technologies, remote sensing, variable-rate technology and several other technologies help us improve agriculture.
