An April conference in Billings offers professional development and networking for local, state, federal, tribal and volunteer emergency workers as well as Montana educators and private industry partners.

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- An April conference in Billings offers professional development and networking for local, state, federal, tribal and volunteer emergency workers as well as Montana educators and private industry partners.

The Governor's Emergency Preparedness Summit takes place April 21-25 at the Billings Holiday Inn Grand Montana. The biennial event is sponsored by Montana Disaster and Emergency Services with support from Montana State University's Extended University.

Conference sessions address subjects such as avian influenza, wildfires, GIS technologies, communications during disasters, and responses to complete loss of infrastructure systems like power, water, phone and gas.

A full-day session on April 21 covers emergency preparedness for schools (K-16) including school shootings, infectious disease outbreaks and other issues concerning Montana's communities.

The cost of the full session is $100, or $125 after April 14. The one-day Emergency Management in Schools seminar is $35.
