LEXINGTON, Kentucky -– The National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators, Inc. (NAGDCA) announces that a resolution has been passed by the House (H. Res. 1294) calling on the week of October 19, 2008 as National Save for Retirement Week.
The Resolution was introduced by Representative Schwartz, (D-PA) and Representative Sam Johnson (R-TX). This is the second year a resolution has been passed by the House and a similar resolution is expected to be introduced in the Senate for the third year in a row.
“We are pleased with the support we have received from both the House and Senate on the National Save for Retirement Week Resolution over the past several years. Today’s action by the House will help further the goal of educating and urging employees-both public and private-to increase their savings for retirement,” stated Mindy Harris, NAGDCA President.
NAGDCA has also been working with the House Ways and Means Committee on an effort to create legislation authorizing a permanent Savings for Retirement month.
