Feeder Grades- Visual classifications of feeder animals. Most of these grades have been established by the USDA. These grades are intended to predict feedlot weight gain and the slaughter weight of cattle fed to a desirable fat-to-lean composition.

Three criteria are used to determine feeder grade:

  • frame size
  • thickness
  • thriftiness
