Expected progeny difference

Expected Progeny Difference (EPD)- Combines into a number, a measurement of genetic potential based on the individual's performance and that of related animals such as: sire, dam, siblings, progeny, and other relatives). An EPD is expressed as a plus or minus value, reflecting the genetic transmitting ability of a sire for a particular trait.
