Stomach Worms

Stomach Worms- Haemonchus contortus, or worms of the stomach of cattle, swine, sheep, and goats.

Clinical Symptoms

  • sucks blood
  • anemia
  • diarrhea
  • reduction of nutrient absorption

Prevention

  • create unfavorable climatic conditions for the parasites
  • develop resistance in cattle
  • manage cattle to prevent their ingestion of infective organisms
  • destruct intermediate host and environmental features hospitable to the parasite outside the cattle's bodies
  • therapeutic chemical treatment of cattle
