Rumination- is a controlled form of vomiting, where the ruminant allows a semiliquid material to be regurgitated up the esophagus. This if followed by the swallowing of the liquids and a chewing of the cudĀ for a second time. Then the solids are swallowed. Ruminants may spend up to 8 hours per day in rumination depending on the makeup of their diet. If the diet is more course, more time will be spent on rumination.
