Testing is based on two simple facts
- Individual beef animals differ in their ability to put on gains
- Rate of gain characteristic which is inherited from the dam and sire
Production testing is a way for breeders and producers to improve their beef cattle by collecting data and creating records that enables them to select on rate of gain and efficiency rather than just on conformation.
