The prenatal develop of animals can be divided into three periods:
- The period of the ovum culminates with the initial attachment of the blastocyst.
- The embryonic period extends from day 15 to day 45 days.
- In this period rapid growth and differentiation occurs in which major tissues, organs, and systems are established.
- The fetal period extends from day 45 to birth.
- This period is characterized by the growth and development of the fetus.
