NYS GIS Coordinating Body

The NYS GIS Coordinating Body, operating under the auspices of the NYS Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination, coordinates, promotes and facilitates the development, effective use, and sharing of geographic information. Each year the Coordinating Body conducts four meetings, one of which is used to review its achievements of the past year and its prioritization of tasks for the coming year.

GIS User Groups Within New York State

There exist numerous GIS user groups throughout New York State.

 

NYS GIS Email List

The New York State GIS List (also called GISNY-L) is an open, unmoderated list developed to promote discussion of GIS-related subjects, particularly GIS issues or projects in New York.

 

New York State GIS Help Desk

The New York State GIS Help Desk is a resource for receiving assistance on working with Geospatial Web Services. There are already a variety of questions and answers in the searchable Knowledge base, and users are encouraged to submit new questions. National States Geographic Information Council - NY Page

The National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) is an organization committed to efficient and effective government through the prudent adoption of geospatial information technologies (GIT). Members of NSGIC include senior state geographic information system (GIS) managers and coordinators. Other members include representatives from federal agencies, local government, the private sector, academia, and other professional organizations. A rich and diverse group, the NSGIC membership includes nationally and internationally recognized experts in geospatial information technologies, data creation, and management, as well as information technology policy.
