Irrigated Pasture in Montana and Wyoming

Irrigated pastures can be an economical use of productive land. They are a forage resource that can enhance the profitability of livestock production.

However, successful management of irrigated pastures requires more capital and labor than does dryland pasture management. Suitable forage species, irrigation and an intensive grazing system are recommended. Economic returns will vary directly with site productivity and level of management.
