BROOKINGS, S.D. -- Producers who missed a workshop for ranchers held in February in Highmore can watch the speakers’ presentations online.

Television director/production manager Lowell Haag of SDSU’s AgBio Communications Unit said video footage of the presentations, including the speakers’ slides and charts, is available by going through a South Dakota State University Web site, http://todaysag.sdstate.edu/.

The different segments include one of Terry Heck, Natural Resources Conservation Service rangeland specialist, discussing the Grazingland Sustainability Initiative and proper grazing. Livestock producer Larry Wagner talks about swath grazing. Ken Miller of the Burleigh County Soil Conservation District in North Dakota offers tips on maximizing benefits from cover crops. Range scientist Sandy Smart of SDSU’s Department of Animal and Range Sciences gives information on inter-seeding legumes into pastures.

Ann Price, the South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service’s livestock educator in Hand County, said there has been considerable interest in the material presented at the training. The Web site with its video links gives producers complete access at no cost to the full slate of presentations.

The South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service, along with the Natural Resources Conservation Service and area county weed supervisors, coordinated the workshop.
