Goat Intestinal Parasite Life Cycle

Another way to look at the life cycle is in four phases. Phase 1 is the Parasitic Phase, which is the interaction between the goat and the parasite. Phase 2 is the Contamination Phase, the result of eggs that are passed in the feces during defecation. Phase 3 is the Free-Living Phase, when larval stages develop and survive. Phase 4 is the Infection Phase, when available infective larvae are consumed during grazing. There are a number of factors that affect what happens and influences control strategies during each of these phases.
