From the Research
A 2007 study in the American Journal of Public Health was conducted investigating the effects of soft drink consumption was conducted relative to our nutrition and health.
The researchers in this study found that there were clear associations of soft drink intake with:
- Increased energy intake
- Lower intake of milk
- Lower intake of calcium
- Lower intake of other nutrients
- Increased risk of several medical problems (type 2 diabetes)

Other Points to Consider
- Are energy drinks displacing healthy foods in your diet?
- Caffeine may help you feel more alert in the near future, but it could be contributing to your lack of energy.
- Being alert is great unless you are trying to sleep. Caffeine can impact your ability to get a restful night's sleep.
- An occasional energy drink is probably not "bad".
- A great way to feel good is to combine healthy foods plus regular activity. Give it a try!
