Energy Drinks:Advice

Moderation (for most):

  • Explain what moderation means…
  • 200 mg to 300 mg
  • 2 to 3 cups of coffee [16 to 24 oz.]
  • 2 sodas ≈ 1 cup of coffee
  • Many energy drinks have A LOT of caffeine

Limit caffeine if:

  • Pregnant
  • Breastfeeding
  • Child/adolescent
  • Experiencing negative effects from caffeine
  • Consuming a lot of caffeine
  • Your beverage consumption is displacing other healthy foods and beverages and, hence, nutrients

Possible Symptoms from Caffeine Withdrawals

There are some symptoms people might encounter from withdrawals from consumption of large quantities of caffeine.

  • Headaches
  • Drowsiness
  • Irritability
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
