Creative Ways to Add Fruits & Vegetables

Suggestions for adding fruits and vegetables to your daily eating plan:

  • Keep fruits and vegetables on hand. Make them easy to grab when hunger strikes.
  • Top cottage cheese or desserts with fruit.
  • Add grapes, pineapple, grated carrots, or other vegetables to chicken or tuna salad.
  • Choose leaf lettuce with the darkest green or red leaf for an added nutritional boost.
  • Snack on cut up broccoli, carrots and peppers with light dips instead of foods like chips or crackers
  • Try a stir-fry using a variety of vegetables
  • Enjoy fruits and vegetables in season.
  • Serve pasta dishes with tomato sauce and added vegetables.
  • Add greens, carrots and tomatoes to a pot of homemade soup.
  • Add fresh vegetables to your pizza.
  • Drink 100% fruit juice, or add some seltzer for a twist (i.e. orange, grape or cranberry)
  • Garnish meals with fruit (i.e. apple pork chops)
  • Try making a fruit smoothie
