By joining a healthy lifestyle program, you have been realistic. Really, if losing weight and being healthy were so easy, everyone would have done it by now.We all need a little help and support sometimes. Now, let’s look at your overall goal and see if your short-term goals can lead you there comfortably. Don’t say “I will workout 2 hours everyday and never eat candy bars again!” if that is not what you really want to do. Do not force yourself into a plan that is doomed for failure. Remember, we are talking lifestyle change. If the change is too dramatic and happens too quickly, it is not likely to stick.
In this program, “diet” is a four-letter word. It is forbidden to speak it! A diet implies there are foods you cannot eat, which will automatically make you want them. Moderation and portion size are the key. If you want chocolate cake, eat chocolate cake, just a smaller portion within the calorie perimeters appropriate for you. If you want fried chicken, eat fried chicken, just not every day! Consider having it maybe once every week or every two weeks and enjoying it in moderation. No Food is Illegal.
Pick goals that are more reflective of what you feel comfortable doing today, right now. As you feel the desire to exercise more and create more healthy changes in your diet, it will become clear to you, and your goals will evolve.
