MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Some people…and communities…prefer non-lethal approaches to controlling overabundant white-tail deer numbers. One such alternative is called “capture and translocation”: as the name implies, capturing a number of deer and then re-locating them to a suitable habitat. Numerous research trials show that this method simply doesn’t work, as outlined this week by K-State wildlife specialist Charlie Lee.
