COLUMBIA, Mo. —- A one-day workshop for those considering a career in winemaking or interested in starting a winery will take place July 13 on the University of Missouri campus.
It will be followed July 14-16 by the Missouri Wine School, a three-day workshop for those with a basic understanding of winemaking. This workshop will offer intensive hands-on training and skill development, said Rebecca Ford Kapoor, extension enologist at the MU Institute for Continental Climate Viticulture and Enology.
“The one-day basic workshop will introduce basic winery equipment and concepts in wine chemistry and operational winemaking procedures,” she said.
The Missouri Wine School will offer in-depth instruction on a range of subjects, including wine analysis, basic cellar operations, wine finishing, winery sanitation, quality assessment, and causes and treatments of wine faults.
Registration fee for the Basic Concepts workshop is $60 for Missouri residents and $80 for nonresidents. Registration for the Missouri Wine School, which will be limited to 48 attendees, is $320 for Missouri residents and $420 for nonresidents.
