MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Diabetes, a disease in which the body does not produce, or does not properly use insulin, continues to rise at a staggering rate in the U.S. The prevalence of diabetes increased 13.5 percent from 2005-2007. In the past 10 years it has almost doubled. 24 million children and adults have diabetes and another 57 million have pre-diabetes.
