Central Testing Stations

Central Testing Stations- are locations with facilities to assemble animals from several herds to evaluate differences in postweaning performance test under uniform conditions.

Reasons for Central Testing Stations

  • determining genetic differences between sire progeny or between herds
  • determining gaining ability, grade, and finishing ability of sires and then comparing these results to other sires
  • determining gaining ability, grade and finishing ability under similar conditions of bulls being readied for sale for producers
  • educational tool for breeders to enhance performance from sires and their herd
