Pounds of Retail Cuts per Day of Age- A measure of cutability and growth combined. It is reported as lean weight per day of age (LWDA) by some associations.
It is calculated as follows:
(cutability X carcass weight) / age in days
Example:
A 800-pound carcass, 375 days old with a yield grade 3 (50 percent retail yield) produces 1.06 pounds of retail cuts per day of age:
(800 x 0.5) ÷ 375= 1.06 pounds of retail cuts per day of age.
