WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Farmers and crop consultants can get a jump on the 2010 growing season by attending the Kentuckiana Crop Production Seminar on Dec. 1 and 2 in Evansville, Ind.
The seminar is divided into four workshops, each targeting a different part of crop production and offering continuing education units and continuing credit hours.
"The seminar is designed to provide new research, address issues that participants have identified and help applicators maintain a knowledge base of industry issues," said Kenneth Eck, educator, Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service Dubois County.
The workshops include speakers from Purdue, University of Kentucky, University of Illinois, Ohio State University, Indiana Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Workshop A focuses on corn and soybeans. Speakers include Bob Nielsen and Corey Gerber from Purdue University; Doug Johnson, James Martin and J.D. Green from the University of Kentucky; and Terry Niblack from the University of Illinois.
Workshop B focuses on ear development in corn and soil management. Speakers include Nielsen; Chad Lee, Paul Vincelli and Greg Schwab from the University of Kentucky; and Barry Fisher with the Indiana NRCS.
Workshop C focuses on fertilization. Speakers include Tony Vyn and Glen Nice from Purdue, Schwab and Lloyd Murdock from the University of Kentucky and Robert Mullin from Ohio State University.
Workshop D focuses on environmental concerns with agriculture. Speakers include Kiersten Wise from Purdue, John Grove and Tim Stombaugh from the University of Kentucky and EPA representatives from regions four and five.
