This set of instructional videos was developed by extension specialists at the Louisiana State University Ag Center. In these videos, extension specialists discuss horse behavior, ground work, and and teaching a horse specific maneuvers. Additionally, videos describe the gaits of the western horse and exercises for riders to practice in order to improve their horsemanship.
Please Note: These instructional video clips provide several methods that have proven successful with developing horses for safe and useful interaction with handlers. However, success is largely dependent on abilities of handlers as well as behavioral tendencies of individual horses. As such, readers are encouraged to seek additional sources of information and assistance from experienced handlers to develop there own specific and effective training methods. These videos were developed in coordination with the Effective Horse Training Learning Module.
