Crude Fiber - refers to the amount of fiber in a foodstuff as measured by a specific analytical method. The method of analysis is referred to as crude fiber and the name provides no indication of the quality of the fiber itself. Crude fiber analysis only measures a fraction of the total dietary fiber in a foodstuff (estimated at between 1/7 to 1/2 of the total fiber).
