The Baby Boomers have been influencing cultural norms in our society for decades but their biggest impact of all may be on the horizon. As the Boomers move into retirement what can we expect from them in terms of the economic development of our communities? Will they be content to retire in place or will they be relocating en mass? Will they choose to stay near family or will they be more likely to relocate their families along with them? Will they start businesses? Continue to work part time? When they find a community to settle into will they change the culture of the community by resisting tax increases? Will they support education once they no longer have children in the school systems?
Professor Judith Stallmann, University of Missouri-Colombia, explores these and other issues related to retirees and economic development in a webinar that aired Friday, February 25, 2011. You are invited to view the recording of the webinar.
