This depends on the type of riding. Most of the rapid fetal growth takes place during the ninth, tenth, and eleventh months of pregnancy. Therefore, curtail strenuous exercise starting around the tenth month of gestation. Pleasure type of riding can be done as long as the mare is comfortable. Draft mares have been known to work right up to the day of foaling.
