Horses are very much like people in many respects. They have distinct personalities, and many have neuroses that have to be dealt with in some fashion. Many times these neuroses can be modified by training, but they may need to be dealt with as well by management schemes. Many horses can and do live well by themselves. In fact, some probably prefer to be by themselves; however, some horses get upset when they do not have a companion. Many times the companion is not another horse. There are many stories of companions being other species of animals. Without knowing more about your horse and its past history, it would be difficult to predict if your horse would require a companion, but finding out what has happened in the past would be helpful as well as knowing something about its personality. At any rate, when you move the horse, make sure the enclosure you place the horse in is secure and that you have the time to spend observing the horse to make sure that you are there to remedy any problems.
