Up to how long can you ride a horse when pregnant?

There is no single answer to this question. Most breeding managers will recommend not to ride the mare in early pregnancy, first 45 to 60 days, to ensure adequate nutrition and priority of nutrients to embryonic attachment and development. Similarly, as the mare approaches parturition at the end of pregnancy, it would be recommended not to ride the mare. Conservatively, not riding the mare the last trimester would ensure nutrition to be directed to the rapid rates of fetal growth at that time. How much you ride a mare, how hard she is ridden, how stressed she is, how thin she is all play into the equation. There are examples of mares being ridden throughout pregnancy, but most would agree to not stress her too severely at any point in pregnancy.
