Is it normal for a horse to urinate while running?

Last Updated: July 24, 2006

View as web page

It is not common. Most horses will stop to urinate. But some horses, when they are excited or mad, will urinate when running or performing. Some mares will pool urine in their vagina as a result of damage from foaling or bad uterine conformation. Many of these mares void urine when they exert themselves by running.
