Obviously if you know there is a low white count, then your veterinarian has examined the horse. The white blood cell count shows the number of white blood cells in a sample of blood. The number of white blood cells is sometimes used to identify an infection or to monitor the response to a treatment. When a horse has a bacterial infection, the number of white cells can increase dramatically. My suggestion would be to adhere to your veterinarian's recommendation or get a second opinion from another veterinarian, if you like. In this case your veterinarian's recommendation should be carefully considered.
