I have a horse tracing back to Impressive. What are the chances of HYPP occurring in the offspring?

Each generation the percentage of Impressive genes is cut in half. Therefore, a son of Impressive would have a 50% chance of having HYPP. A grandson would have a 25% chance of having HYPP. A fifth generation horse would have a 3 and 1/8 chance of having HYPP. If the condition was passed to your horse's sire or dam, your chances are back to 50%. There is a test for HYPP. If you suspect it, have your horse tested.
