In reseeding a field for hay, what is the ratio of alfalfa seed, clover, bluegrass, etc. that would be recommended for an Indiana pasture?

In reseeding a horse pasture, the real danger is not getting enough grass, so at least 15 pounds of bluegrass, up to a maximum of 30 (almost full seeding rate). The clover/alfalfa proportion can be varied, and we recommend white clover not red. Since there are so many seed per pound of white clover compared to alfalfa, and alfalfa is generally harder to get, go with about 10 lbs alfalfa and only 1 lb of white clover. You could increae the white a little if you chose. The following amounts should be good: 15-25 lbs bluegrass, 10-12 lbs alfalfa and no more than about 1 lb of white clover.
