Does a foal take on much of the surrogate mare's personality?

The foal can learn certain behavioral traits from its dam. Some researchers believe that a horse can learn to crib from another horse, and some think it is strictly genetic. It is safe to say that the environment a foal is in will certainly influence its behavior. Human contact will also influence a foal's behavior. If you are around the foal and treat the foal consistently, then we would doubt there would be much the foal might learn from the surrogate dam that could not be overcome after weaning.
